Weather Update – December 16, 2025

Good morning, weather watchers! Grab your umbrellas and prepare for a splish-splash extravaganza because the Fiji Group is being treated to a deluxe heavy rain experience today! Yes, you heard it right—it’s like the universe decided we need some serious hydration!

A heavy rain warning is in place, and if that wasn’t enough excitement, we also have a flash flood warning for the entire group. So, if you’ve ever wanted to see your backyard transformed into a water park, now’s your chance (but maybe not the safest kind).

Here’s the scoop: A shallow low-pressure system is drifting lazily over the southern parts of Fiji, lounging around and ensuring we get splattered with occasional rain, which will be heavy and accompanied by a few rambunctious thunderstorms. Think of it as Mother Nature’s way of throwing a water balloon party!

Winds will be moderate—enough to blow your hat off if you dare step outside—especially in those fun, rain-heavy areas. Brace yourselves for some moderate to rough seas; perhaps a good day for pondering life choices while staring at the ocean from the comfort of your dry porch.

Now, let’s dive deeper into the specifics:

For Navua/Suva/Nausori, expect an ensemble of rain and thunderstorms today, maximuming out at a balmy 28°C. Tomorrow, you’ll be waking up to a cozy 23°C, working hard for that gold medal in humidity.

Natadradave/Korovou, your forecast is looking similar—rain, heavy at times, and all that jazz, with highs reaching 28°C. Tomorrow’s minimum dips slightly to a cool 22°C. Perfect for snuggling with hot chocolate!

Over in Sigatoka/Coral Coast, you too can expect rain and thunder, pimpmobiling your way up to a sunny 28°C. Tomorrow: a minimum of 23°C to cozy up in.

Nadi/Lautoka/Ba, it’s the same song, just with a different tune—rain, storms, 28°C. Tomorrow, you’ll wake up to a fresh 23°C.

Tavua/Rakiraki is also invited to the rainy party, hitting a high of 28°C today and a minimum of 23°C tomorrow, so keep those rain boots ready!

The Yasawa/Mamanuca group won’t miss out on the watery fun either, with rain and thunderstorms joining in on the sunshine showdown, keeping you at a pleasant 28°C today. Tomorrow will bring a minimum of 22°C for a slightly chillier twist.

For Labasa, Savusavu, and Nabouwalu—looks like today’s heavy rain vibe at 28°C is the trend we just can’t shake! Tomorrow will be 23°C, cozy as usual.

Taveuni is in for the same, flaunting its 28°C today with a min of 23°C to keep things interesting.

The Lau and Lomaiviti group isn’t leaving this rain party just yet, also experiencing rain with highs of 28°C today. Tomorrow could see a minimum temperature of 23°C, just to keep you on your toes.

Kadavu will be adding some dramatic flair with occasional rain, peaking at 27°C today and nudging down to 22°C tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Rotuma is caught in its own trough of excitement, seeing occasional heavy rain, moderate winds, and a fair amount of rough seas—perfect for watching the waves crash from indoors while avoiding any soggy drama outside. Expect 28°C today and a similar minimum tomorrow.

In short, if you feel like dancing in the rain, today is your day! Just remember, keep it safe and steer clear of any unexpected water features. Happy splashing!
