Weather Alert
Get your umbrellas and rubber boots ready, folks! The weather wizards at the National Weather Forecasting Centre are conjuring up quite the soggy spectacle across the beautiful Fiji Group. As of 3:30 PM this December 15th, 2025, we’ve got a HEAVY RAIN WARNING in place – yes, you heard that right, so that beach trip you had in mind? Let’s say it’s more of a “watch the rain dance” event now.
Thanks to a rather chatty shallow low-pressure system, our skies will be putting on a damp show for a couple of days, joined by an active trough that’s decided to stick around for a while. And just off our northwest coast, Tropical Depression 03F is making its slow and steady appearance near Vanuatu – so, if it feels like Mother Nature is taking her sweet time, you’re right!
Here’s the forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji Group: Expect rain to come down like it’s got something to prove. We’re talking about heavy downpours and maybe a few booming thunderstorms that could be your ideal background noise for an epic Netflix binge. Just a heads up, persistent heavy falls may lead to flash flooding in those low-lying spots, so keep your floaties handy!
Winds will be swinging from the north to northwest at a moderate pace, perhaps channeling their inner gusts when the heavy rain peeks in. And for those of you thinking about hitting the waves? Good luck navigating the moderate to rough seas; you might want to stick to the pool instead.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, it seems the rain and thunderstorms have decided not to take a break – they’ll be putting on a repeat performance across the group! Look out for consistent heavy falls and keep your life jackets close. Winds will be modestly fresh from southeast to north, and those seas? Still a bit moody.
Here’s what you can expect for various locations:
– Navua/Suva/Nausori: Rain, rain, and more rain, folks! Today’s max is a comfortable 28. Tomorrow, expect a min of 23 and a max of 28. And oh look, Wednesday is bringing the same show with a min of 22 and a max of 28.
– Natadradave/Korovou, Sigatoka/Coral Coast, Nadi/Lautoka/Ba, Tavua/Rakiraki, Yasawa/Mamanuca: All places are getting their fill of rain too! Just think of it as nature’s way of watering the plants. A max of 28 today and tomorrow’s the same story with 23 as the low and 28 as a high. Wednesday? You guessed it – more rain, min 22, max 28.
– Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni: Rain also has a special invitation to you all, with maxes sticking to 28 and another day of rain and storms on the way. Your tomorrow will see lows of 23 to 24 and highs at 28.
