Weather Update

Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi has issued a cheerful little heads-up at 7:30 PM on Thursday, January 15, 2026. It seems the heavens have decided to throw a rain party, and guess what? You’re all invited!

First up, a HEAVY RAIN WARNING is still making its rounds for the northern and eastern parts of our lovely Fiji group. And if that wasn’t enough to dampen your spirits (pun intended), there’s also a FLASH FLOOD WARNING waving its little flag, letting everyone know that it’s a good time to avoid low-lying areas unless you fancy a swim.

To top it off, if you’re near the coastal areas of Rakiraki-Tailevu North, Bua-Lekutu-Dreketi-Seaqaqa-Labasa-Namuka-Udu Point, Rabi, Taveuni, or the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, brace yourself for STRONG WINDS. They’ll be blowing in at speeds of 38 to 45 km/hr, with gusts approaching the dizzying heights of 60 km/hr. Umbrellas, consider yourselves warned!

We’ve got a low-pressure trough hovering over the northern and eastern parts, keeping the clouds and rain busy all the way through Sunday. So if you see a bunch of clouds hanging around, they’re just waiting their turn to drop a few raindrops on your picnic plans.

Tomorrow’s forecast? Expect fresh to strong northwest winds, a rollercoaster of rough seas, and plenty of rain, some of it heavy enough to make you look to the sky and ask, “Why do you hate my plans?” We’ll even throw in some afternoon thunderstorms to spice things up!

For those in Navua/Suva/Nausori, prepare for a delightful menu of cloudy periods and showers, topped off with afternoon thunderstorms. It’ll feel a bit like Mother Nature is giving you a surprise shower—good luck staying dry! Tomorrow’s temperatures will be comfy with a minimum of 24 and a max of 29.

If you’re chilling in Sigatoka/Coral Coast, Nadi/Lautoka/Ba, or any of the other mentioned spots, your forecast is akin to a rainy sitcom episode: cloudy, a bit showery, with enough thunder to keep you on your toes. Don’t worry, the maximum temperature in your region will also be around 30, so it’s not all doom and gloom.

So, if you live in the Yasawa/Mamanucas, Labasa, or Taveuni, expect a similar theme: Wind, rain, and the occasional thunderous applause from the clouds. Tomorrow’s minimum temperature across the board will hover around 24, with a maximum trying its best to reach 30.

In short, stay cozy, keep your rain gear handy, and maybe double-check if your boat is still above water! Enjoy the waterworks, and remember, if life gives you rain, make the best of it—dance like no one’s watching, even if they probably are!
