Weather Update
Issued by our brave and slightly sleep-deprived meteorologists at the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi on the delightful morning of January 13, 2026.
Attention residents of Fiji: Grab your umbrellas and your sense of humor because a HEAVY WARNING is still in play for the whole of the Fiji Group! That’s right; it’s wetter than a fish at a water park out there. And hold onto your hats – a FLASH FLOOD WARNING is also in effect! For more details, you can check out the official site at: https://www.met.gov.fj/alerts/
If you’re in Yasawa, Mamanuca, Taveuni, or nearby smaller islands, along with the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, be prepared for some strong winds! These winds are not just for dramatic flair; they’re moving in from the east and turning a bit north – so hold onto those garden gnomes!
So what can you expect for today? Rain, rain, and more rain! You might even want to start practicing your thunderstorm yoga, as there are thunderstorms in the forecast. With heavy downpours expected, those low-lying areas might get a little too cozy with the water. Wind? Oh, just a light easterly breeze that will throw a tantrum and blow up to 45 km/hr later today.
And seas? They’re moderate to rough, perfect for a boat trip if your idea of fun is holding on for dear life while waves attempt to dunk you repeatedly.
