Weather Alert: Grab Your Umbrellas and Floaties!
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 10:45am on Friday, December 12, 2025. A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is waving its soggy flag over the entire Fiji group. Yes folks, it’s going to be a wet and wild ride! For more details, feel free to navigate your way over to the Special Weather Bulletin on Heavy Rain at the National Weather Forecasting Centre’s website.
Current Situation: There’s a lazy trough of low pressure hanging around like that one friend who won’t take a hint to leave. It’s causing clouds and rain to hang out with us for the foreseeable future, probably until next week.
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group: Expect a generous sprinkling of occasional rain, some of which may be heavy and accompanied by a few rambunctious thunderstorms, particularly in the northern parts of Vanua Levu such as Bua, Lekutu, and friends. We’re also looking at some soggy fun over Western and Northern Viti Levu, along with the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups.
In other regions, you’ll find occasional rain and maybe a few thunderstorms making appearances, especially in the afternoon or evening. Keep your wellies handy, as these persistent downpours could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas.
Winds will be moderate from the north to northeast; don’t be surprised if they freshen up at times. Seas? Well, they’re going to be moderate to rough—perfect conditions for… sitting back and watching the waves from indoors.
Outlook for Sunday: The rain and occasional thunderstorms are planning to continue their party across most areas (who knew they were such social butterflies?). Same deal: heavy falls could lead to flooding of those pesky low areas.
Here’s a taste of what to expect in various locations:
For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Occasional rain and thunderstorms are forecast, particularly in the afternoon or evening, with today’s Max reaching a balmy 29. Tomorrow’s highs also look good at 29, with a Min of 22.
In Natadradave/Korovou: Rain and some thunder will be joining the festivities today and tomorrow. Max for today is 29, with a Min of 23—how delightful!
For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: You guessed it, occasional rain and a theatrical thunderstorm performance. Today’s Max is 29, and tomorrow will mirror that.
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: The rain won’t shy away from making an impression, with a delightful Max of 30 today and a repeat performance tomorrow.
Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Similar rain shenanigans are expected. Today’s Max hits 29 and tomorrow, we’re keeping it steady.
Labasa, Savusavu, and Nabouwalu are also in on the rain fun—guess what? It’s rain and thunderstorms all around, with highs hovering around 29-30 all weekend.
Rotuma: Here, Northeasterly winds take the stage, but the occasional showers and thunderstorms are still rolling through. Take note of the Max of 30 today and tomorrow.
So there you have it! Grab your umbrellas, rain jackets, and maybe a pair of floaties. It looks like the weather is set to keep things interesting in our beautiful Fiji!
