The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is notifying customers in regions typically affected by high turbidity at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to brace for possible interruptions in their water service. The ongoing heavy rainfall is likely to compromise the quality of water in the source streams, creating challenges for effective water treatment and potentially reducing production at the Tamavua WTP.

The following areas are expected to be impacted:

– **Namadi Heights:** Mika Drue Place and Pathik Crescent.
– **Bayview Heights:** Mead Road, Volavola Road, Evetts Place, Top Shop Road, Sawau Road, Yohann Place, Vuibau Place, Sam Lal Road, Paul Sloan Street, and Joyce Perks Street.
– **Sakoca Areas:** Elevated locations along Lakha Singh Road, including Sakoca Road, Wrong Turn, Delaiveiruka Place, Raikiwai Road, and Nagatugatu Road.
– **Tacirua:** Elevated areas along Tacirua Road, including Raibevu Road, Tacirua Heights, Raisuluwaki Road, Nakoivalu Road, and Dokanaisuva Road.
– **Tamavua:** Including MH Superfresh, Upper Mead Road, Princes Road from Twomey Hospital to Loa Street Junction, and several other local streets and areas.
– **Dokanaisuva:** Princes Road from the Junction of Savutalele to the Junction of Khalsa Road, encompassing Jeremiah College and Savutalele Settlement Road.
– **Coloisuva:** Along Princes Road from Joe’s Farm to Sawani Service Station, covering various local roads and areas.
– **Lami Area:** Upper Delanivesi, Upper Areas of Lami Village Road, and other related streets and settlements.

WAF expresses regret for any inconveniences this may cause and appreciates the community’s understanding as they prioritize the quality and safety of the water supply.

To reduce disruptions, WAF recommends customers to:
– Store sufficient water for essential household use immediately.
– Limit non-essential water consumption during the period of potential service disruptions.
– Keep stored water clean and covered.

WAF’s teams are diligently monitoring the situation and are committed to managing production levels and minimizing the effects on water supply. Once conditions improve, they will work swiftly to restore full service.

For the latest updates and assistance, customers can contact WAF at 3346777 or 5777 (available across all mobile networks) or email contact@waf.com.fj.

This situation serves as a reminder of the importance of conserving water and being prepared for such unexpected events. Community cooperation will go a long way in addressing these challenges effectively.
