Fiji Water Supply Disruptions: Urgent Repairs Underway

Spread the love

The Water Authority of Fiji is set to isolate its raw water pipeline leading to the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant in Savura in order to carry out urgent repairs on a washout valve that was damaged by flash flooding early this morning.

The damage was caused when a tree trunk, swept away by the floodwaters, struck the washout valve of the main raw water line.

Samuela Rokovaleusa, the WAF Manager of Regional Operations, highlighted the necessity of repairing the damaged valve to maintain consistent water production and ensure operational integrity. He noted that a significant amount of water is currently being lost from the pipeline and is not reaching the Tamavua treatment facility.

The pipeline isolation will begin today and is expected to take place overnight. Rokovaleusa informed residents in the affected areas that they would face disruptions in their water supply during this period. He reassured the public that the operations team is committed to minimizing inconveniences and will work swiftly to complete repairs and provide water carting services.

Residents are encouraged to prepare for this temporary interruption in their water supply.
