Fiji Water Supply Disruption: What You Need to Know

The Water Authority of Fiji is currently addressing a supply disruption impacting several customers who receive water from the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant over the weekend.

On Friday, the plant experienced elevated turbidity levels in the Waimanu River, a result of recent rainfall in the area. This increase in turbidity led to a higher accumulation of sludge within the plant, subsequently affecting the gearbox of one of the two clarifiers.

The Authority indicated that this mechanical issue has hindered their ability to restore water production to normal levels, affecting supply for those impacted.

“Our technical team is working diligently around the clock to resolve this issue and restore supply as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologize for the disruption, particularly to those who have been without water since yesterday,” a spokesperson stated.

WAF Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg expressed gratitude to the community for their understanding and patience as the team navigates this situation.
