The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is addressing a water supply disruption affecting customers serviced by the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant over the weekend.
On Friday, the plant encountered high turbidity levels in the Waimanu River, attributed to recent rainfall in the area. This increased turbidity led to heightened sludge accumulation within the plant, which in turn impacted the gearbox of one of the two clarifiers.
As a result of this mechanical failure, WAF has faced delays in returning water production to normal levels, consequently affecting water supply to impacted customers.
“Our technical team is dedicated to resolving this issue and restoring supply as swiftly as possible. We sincerely apologize for the disruption, especially to those who have been without water since yesterday,” stated a WAF representative.
WAF’s Chief Operating Officer, Seru Soderberg, expressed gratitude to the community for their understanding and patience during this challenging time.
