The Water Authority of Fiji has advised residents in the Suva-Nausori corridor to stock up on water as maintenance work is scheduled to take place this Friday through Sunday. This maintenance will lead to temporary water supply disruptions.
The Authority noted that ongoing evaluations at the worksite have uncovered additional safety risks that must be addressed prior to the commencement of the work in order to protect the workers. They warned that if these risks are not managed beforehand, they could potentially delay the project.
Residents are encouraged to prepare by storing enough water to last during the expected service interruption. The maintenance work is crucial for connecting the new DN900mm Gravity Main from the Waitolu Reservoir to the current DN600mm DICL Rising Main from the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which supplies the Wainibuku Reservoir.
Affected areas will include those serviced by the Wainibuku Reservoir along with other dependent reservoirs, such as Tovata Reservoir, Nagatugatu Reservoir, Tacirua Reservoir, Dokanaisuva, Coloisuva Reservoir, Kalabu Reservoir, Nasinu Reservoir, and Flagstaff Reservoir.
