The FIJI Water Foundation (FWF) has unveiled its 2025 Classroom Grants program, which allocates up to FJ$5,000 for certified educators across Fiji. This funding initiative is aimed at enhancing literacy, numeracy, mental well-being, and teaching innovations within schools, from the bustling urban centers to the most remote islands.
Marie Smith, Manager of the FIJI Water Foundation, highlighted the program’s significance, stating, “By providing schools with targeted resources, we ensure every student has access to quality education, thereby preparing them for a brighter future in Fiji.” Since its launch in 2018, the program has invested over FJ$4 million to improve educational outcomes for students due to critical resources being made available to educators.
The grants facilitate various educational projects, including new learning tools and teacher empowerment resources, alongside technological enhancements that can elevate classroom experiences. In 2024, nearly 250 educators benefitted from the program, receiving a total of FJ$1.2 million, which directly impacted over 50,000 students throughout the country.
Educators interested in applying for the 2025 Classroom Grants have until April 12, 2025, to submit their applications. Selected grantees will be notified in May. For detailed application information, educators can visit the FIJI Water Foundation’s website or contact them directly.
This initiative represents a continued commitment by the FIJI Water Foundation to foster educational transformation and ensure the future generations of Fiji have the necessary skills and resources to thrive academically.
The foundation operates as a charitable trust funded by the owners of FIJI Water, focusing on providing clean water access, building educational facilities, and improving health services in underprivileged communities. Since its inception in 2007, it has dedicated over FJD $35 million to various community development projects.
Overall, the Classroom Grants program not only emphasizes educational improvement but also reflects a hopeful commitment to empowering the younger generation in Fiji, paving the way for sustainable development in the country.
