The FIJI Water Foundation, along with FIJI Water, Neptune Pacific Direct Line (NPDL), and Aspen Medical, has collaborated to enhance the Children’s Ward at Lautoka Hospital in time for Christmas. This initiative is part of their Wonderful Neighbour Project, which aims to make a significant impact on healthcare in the Western Division.
The Wonderful Neighbour Project empowers employees from FIJI Water and NPDL to propose and partake in community-enhancing projects, with each participant receiving $100 and eight paid working hours to contribute. Aspen Medical’s CEO in Fiji, Gavin Whiteside, expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing that the refurbishment will benefit numerous families for years to come.
This year, an impressive 798 employees were involved in 21 Wonderful Neighbour projects across Fiji, collectively donating over 4,500 volunteer hours. The recent revitalization of the Children’s Ward not only included updates to the waiting area and restroom facilities but also included the donation of a new washing machine and dryer, a swing set, and four tricycles for the children.
Additional renovations encompassed thorough cleaning, painting, and construction tasks, all of which required the teamwork of 120 employees over three days. This initiative highlights the commitment of the FIJI Water Foundation to fostering positive change, enhancing community spirit, and building a sustainable future for Fiji.
This collaboration demonstrates the profound impact that corporate social responsibility initiatives can have on local communities, especially in improving healthcare facilities for children. It’s a heartwarming reminder that efforts to uplift the community can lead to lasting improvements and positive experiences for families in need.
