The Fiji Water Foundation, along with FIJI Water, Neptune Pacific Direct Line (NPDL), and Aspen Medical, has collaborated to give the children’s ward at Lautoka Hospital a vibrant makeover this holiday season. This initiative is part of their Wonderful Neighbour Project, where employees of FIJI Water and NPDL have the opportunity to propose and execute impactful community projects.
The Wonderful Neighbour initiative empowers employees by allowing them to dedicate $100 and a maximum of eight working hours to enhance their communities. Gavin Whiteside, CEO of Aspen Medical in Fiji, expressed gratitude for the support, stating that the improvements in the Children’s Ward will have lasting benefits for families in the area.
Semi Lotawa, the director of the FIJI Water Foundation, shared that this year alone, 798 employees participated in 21 projects across Fiji, contributing over 4,500 volunteer hours. The latest effort to rejuvenate the Lautoka Hospital’s children’s ward aligns with their commitment to fostering positive change, community pride, and a sustainable future for Fiji.
The upgrades included refreshing the waiting area, enhancing restroom facilities, and donating a new washing machine and dryer. Additionally, a new swing set and four tricycles were installed for the children’s enjoyment. The volunteering efforts also encompassed tasks like water blasting, painting, tiling, and landscaping, with 120 employees contributing over three days.
This initiative reflects a strong commitment to improving local healthcare facilities and showcases a sense of community spirit that enhances the quality of life for families in Fiji.
Overall, such contributions not only uplift the physical environment but also foster a positive atmosphere, which is especially vital in healthcare settings where every improvement contributes to the well-being of children and their families.
