The FIJI Water Flying Fijians have moved up to 9th place in the World Rugby rankings following their remarkable victory over Japan in the Pacific Nations Cup final. Head coach Mick Byrne highlighted the significance of the tournament in nurturing the future stars of Fijian rugby.
“It’s a great opportunity for us in the PNC to select a good bunch of young players,” Byrne stated. He expressed gratitude for the experienced players’ contributions during the previous year’s World Cup while hinting at potential changes in the lineup.
“Over the next few years, some of those players will be replaced, and the sooner we can get the younger ones into the test arena, the better it is for the future of the team and for Fiji Rugby,” he added. This victory not only reinforces Fiji’s capabilities but also showcases the bright prospects of numerous squad members who are at the beginning of their professional rugby careers.
