The FIJI Water Flying Fijians have risen to 9th place in the World Rugby rankings after a strong victory against Japan in the Pacific Nations Cup final. Head coach Mick Byrne highlighted the significance of the tournament in nurturing the next generation of Fijian rugby talent.
“It’s a great opportunity for us in the PNC to select a good group of young players,” Byrne stated. He recognized the roles of senior players during last year’s World Cup and suggested that changes are on the horizon.
“Over the next few years, some of those players will be replaced, and the sooner we can introduce the younger ones into the test arena, the better it is for the future of the team and for Fiji Rugby.”
This win not only reinforces Fiji’s potential but also showcases the bright futures of many squad members, who are still at the beginning of their professional rugby careers.
