Fiji Water Flying Fijians Name 32-Man Squad for Autumn Tests in England

The Fiji Water Flying Fijians have compiled a robust 32-member squad in anticipation of their Autumn Internationals set to take place next month in England. Under the guidance of head coach Mick Byrne, the team will gather in London to prepare for a series of matches against formidable opponents, including England, France, and Spain. This strategic move aims to enhance their competitive edge ahead of these critical matches.

Byrne pointed out that players based in Europe will travel in from their respective clubs, while those currently in Fiji will head to London, with the squad expected to commence their preparations between October 25 and 27. During this period, the Flying Fijians will benefit from a regulation nine camp, which allows national teams to train effectively before important fixtures, ensuring player availability without the usual club commitments.

The first test against England is set for November 8 at the iconic Twickenham Stadium, where Byrne expressed appreciation for the extended preparation time afforded to the team, a luxury he noted they do not often enjoy. Reflecting on past experiences, he recalled how their preparations prior to facing Australia in Newcastle were disrupted by adverse weather conditions, limiting their training sessions. Now, with a clearer path for training, Byrne is eager to capitalize on the chance to bond and optimize performance before taking on top-tier teams.

The Flying Fijians’ schedule includes a clash against France on November 16 and a final match against Spain on November 23. These encounters not only offer the opportunity to showcase the growth and talent within Fijian rugby but also serve to engage and inspire fans back home and internationally.

This autumn tour stands as a promising chapter for the Flying Fijians, who aim to solidify their presence on the global rugby stage. With an emphasis on unity and development, the team hopes to make a significant impact, showcasing their ability to compete against world-class teams. The anticipation surrounding these fixtures adds to the hopeful narrative for both the players and their supporters, setting the stage for an electrifying series of matches.
