The excitement among the Fiji Water Flying Fijians’ fan base in Tonga is palpable as they prepare to support their team this Friday. Rugby enthusiast Eceli Gasagasa expressed her eagerness for what promises to be an exhilarating match between the two nations she identifies with.
At 36 years old and originally from Lomanikoro, Rewa, Gasagasa has lived in Tonga for nine years and declared she wouldn’t miss the chance to support the Flying Fijians. “When I learned that the Fiji team would be playing here in Nuku’alofa, I was thrilled,” she said. She plans to leave work early at 3 PM to reach the stadium in time.
Another resident, Mareta Vueti, also of Fijian origin, mentioned that the local Fijian community is excited about hosting the team. Many have printed shirts in anticipation of the event, eager to meet the players. “This doesn’t happen often, so we are excited to host our boys,” she stated, adding that they are all set with their Fiji t-shirts and supportive cheers for the Flying Fijians.
The match will be held at Teufaiva Stadium in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, and is scheduled to kick off at 3 PM. The Fiji team is expected to arrive in Tonga tonight.
