Rugby enthusiast Eceli Gasagasa, who has lived in Tonga for the past nine years, expressed her anticipation for the thrilling match between the two nations, both of which she calls home.
Originally from Lomanikoro, Rewa, the 36-year-old is determined not to miss the opportunity to cheer for the Flying Fijians. “When I heard the Fiji team was going to be playing here in Nuku’alofa, I was really excited,” she shared. Gasagasa plans to leave work early on Friday at 3 PM to ensure she arrives at the stadium on time.
Mareta Vueti, another Fijian resident in Tonga, noted that she and fellow community members are eager to welcome the team. Many have gone ahead and printed shirts in anticipation of meeting the Fiji players this Friday. “This does not happen often, so we are excited to host our boys,” Vueti said, adding that they are preparing with Fiji t-shirts and traditional attire to cheer on their team.
The highly anticipated match between Tonga and Fiji is set to take place at Teufaiva Stadium in Nuku’alofa, with kickoff scheduled for 3 PM. The Fiji team is expected to arrive in Tonga tonight.
