Fiji vs Japan: A Historic Showdown Awaits in the Pacific Nations Cup Final!

The FIJI Water Flying Fijians are set to compete against the host nation Japan in the final of the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup this Saturday. Japan secured their spot in the championship match by defeating Samoa 49-27 in the second semifinal.

This upcoming final will reignite the rivalry between Fiji and Japan, which began with their first match in 1990. Of the 17 games played between the two teams, Fiji has won 14 times, while Japan has claimed victory on three occasions.

Japan’s significant wins against Fiji include a 24-18 victory in Matsuyama in May 1994 and a 24-13 win in Lautoka in July 2011. The largest margin of victory for Japan against Fiji was 12 points, achieved with a 20-8 win in May 1994 at the National Stadium in Tokyo.

The final match will take place at Hanazono Rugby Stadium in Higashiosaka at 10:05 PM Fiji Time.
