The Fiji Volleyball Federation has secured a vital sponsorship of $9,292 from Hot Bread Kitchen, enabling the hosting of the Easter Volleyball Championships this weekend. This financial support plays a crucial role, as it allows the federation to reserve indoor court facilities annually, which are essential for a sport like volleyball.
This year, the championships will see participation from nine associations, with teams coming from both the Central and Western Divisions. Each association is set to present three men’s teams and three women’s teams, resulting in a total of 54 teams competing in the event. Fiji Volleyball Federation President Kemueli Naiqama expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity these championships provide for players to gain experience and prepare for regional competitions. He noted the chain of tournaments leading up to this event, stating, “We started off with the national club championship, then the Vulaca Championships, Western Rally, Vanua Challenge, and now we have the Easter championships where we can identify players to incorporate them into the Fijian extended squad.”
Upashna Ben, General Manager of Business Development at Hot Bread Kitchen, emphasized the company’s commitment to grassroots sports and how vital these tournaments are for players who aspire to represent Fiji on the national stage. This year’s Easter Volleyball Championships will occur over two days, beginning this Friday and concluding on Saturday at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
The ongoing support for community and youth sports in Fiji, evident in this sponsorship, showcases a strong commitment to developing local talent and fostering a spirit of competition. As various organizations rally behind such initiatives, they contribute not only to the improvement of sporting facilities but also to the overall growth of athletes in the region, inspiring hope and dedication for a better future in sports.
