Dr. Pant, who is set to assume his role in October 2025, brings with him an impressive legacy of over 25 years in leadership across the tourism, hospitality, and aviation sectors in Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand. Having previously served in senior roles within Tourism Fiji as Regional Director for both New Zealand and Australia, Dr. Pant is well-versed with the region’s travel dynamics and is notably recognized for his strategies that spurred visitor growth and spearheaded crisis recovery.

His passion for the country and commitment to enhancing its global brand promise a future of sustained growth in visitor numbers while ensuring that tourism benefits are extended to local communities.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, also welcomed Dr. Pant, viewing his appointment as timely as Fiji navigates towards extensive growth. Dr. Pant’s academic credentials include a PhD in Tourism Strategy & Aviation Management from Griffith University, Australia, enhancing his capability to strategically position Fiji in the global tourism arena.

Dr. Pant expressed his honor in assuming this role, citing the transformative position of tourism within Fiji’s economy and identity. He is committed to building on existing strong foundations to ensure sustainable growth that is beneficial to communities, partners, and the nation at large.

This appointment comes as a strategic move following the impactful tenure of previous CEO, Brent Hill, under whose leadership Tourism Fiji saw significant milestones such as record-breaking visitor numbers. The leadership transition is seen as optimistic, with expectations that Dr. Pant’s global perspective and local insights will further cement Fiji’s status as a premier global destination. The focus remains on sustainable and inclusive tourism practices, with the industry poised for resilient and innovative growth.
