Fiji Unveils Major Corruption Investigations: What’s at Stake?

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) is currently investigating 26 complaints related to corruption that were submitted last month. These complaints were part of a total of 39 lodged with FICAC in September, which were reviewed by the Legal & Prosecution Department.

Following the assessment, it was determined that 26 of the complaints pertained to corruption and were recommended for preliminary or full investigations. The remaining 13 complaints were classified as non-corruption related and referred to the appropriate authorities.

Additionally, FICAC has filed charges in two cases, involving four individuals: three males and one female. The charges include two counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage, one count of General Dishonesty resulting in a Loss, one count of Conspiracy to Defraud with the aim of obtaining a gain, and one count of Abuse of Office.
