Fiji Unveils Futuristic Air Laucala Hangar: A Leap Towards Aviation Excellence

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officially opened the advanced Air Laucala Hangar at Nadi International Airport yesterday. This multi-million dollar facility is recognized as one of Fiji’s most sophisticated hangars, designed specifically for high-end travelers visiting the Laucala Island Resort.

The investment reflects a collaborative effort among the resort owner, government, and local landowners to enhance guest services while supporting national development objectives. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for this significant private investment, emphasizing its alignment with international standards.

“This state-of-the-art facility not only speaks to our commitment to advancing aviation capabilities and premium guest services but also symbolizes our country’s progress and innovation,” Rabuka stated. He pointed out that the Air Laucala Hangar embodies Fiji’s vision of leading aviation excellence in the Pacific region.

He added, “This facility will improve our capacity to maintain and service aircraft, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our aviation operations. It will also generate numerous job opportunities, promoting economic growth. Additionally, the hangar will facilitate training and skill development, equipping our workforce with the necessary expertise to thrive in the aviation sector.”

Rabuka thanked all contributors to the project’s success, including local landowners in Nadi and Laucala Island. The hangar aims to provide young engineers and technicians with practical experience utilizing the latest technologies, nurturing a new generation of skilled professionals for the aviation industry.

Kevin Abramowicz, Director of Laucala Island Resort and Air Laucala, shared that the project was inspired by the late Mr. Dietrich Mateschitz, the resort’s owner. He remarked that the facility enhances seamless transit for both international carriers and private jets into Laucala’s aircraft.

“Apart from minimizing transit times and offering maximum comfort in the lounge, the hangar has been designed to provide space and excellent working conditions for our Air Laucala fleet management team, positioned close to industry experts at Nadi International Airport,” Abramowicz explained.

He concluded by noting that owner Mark Mateschitz remains committed to Fiji and is dedicated to continuing his father’s legacy of development in the North and throughout Fiji.
