Pio Tikoduadua, the Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, launched Fiji’s National Security and Defense Review (NSDR) today at the Grand Pacific Hotel. During the event, he emphasized the critical need for reform within Fiji’s security institutions and highlighted the importance of rebuilding trust among the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, the Fiji Police Force, civil society, and the private sector.
The NSDR report identifies accountability, transparency, and civilian oversight as fundamental pillars. It advocates for a people-centered security approach that prioritizes justice, human rights, and social cohesion. The Minister also called for a comprehensive strategy that involves the entire government and society, advocating for the integration of human rights, gender equity, and social inclusion into national security initiatives.
