The Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Pio Tikoduadua, officially launched Fiji’s National Security and Defense Review (NSDR) today at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
Highlighting the necessity for reforms within Fiji’s security institutions, Tikoduadua emphasized the critical need to rebuild trust among the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, the Fiji Police Force, civil society, and the private sector.
The NSDR report identifies accountability, transparency, and civilian oversight as fundamental pillars of the security framework. It advocates for a people-centered approach to security that prioritizes justice, human rights, and social cohesion.
The Minister urged a comprehensive strategy that involves both the government and society, integrating human rights, gender equity, and social inclusion into the national security agenda.
