Fiji Unveils Bold National Security Strategy: Key Reforms Ahead!

Fiji’s Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Pio Tikoduadua, has officially launched the National Security and Defense Review (NSDR) at the Grand Pacific Hotel. During the event, Tikoduadua emphasized the urgent need for reforms within Fiji’s security institutions, highlighting the necessity of rebuilding trust among the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, the Fiji Police Force, civil society, and the private sector.

The NSDR report identifies accountability, transparency, and civilian oversight as essential components. It advocates for a people-centered approach to security that prioritizes justice, human rights, and social cohesion. The Minister urged for a comprehensive strategy involving the entire government and society that incorporates human rights, gender equity, and social inclusion into national security efforts.
