The Fiji National University’s Nasinu Campus was lively last week as over a thousand prospective students attended the university’s open day. With participation from 45 schools, students took the opportunity to explore their future study options.

The event, themed “Dream it, Weave it, Achieve it,” served not only to highlight the university’s programs but also to inspire attendees about the possibilities available at FNU. Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba emphasized that the open day was a chance for individuals to consider their future educational steps.

“We aim to provide inspiration to help turn dreams into reality, whether you’re planning your next educational move or just curious,” she stated. Additionally, the university accepted applications for Semester 1, 2025, during the event and provided instant offer letters to successful applicants.

Finau Joy Afeaki Batiweti, a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries student from the College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, expressed her enthusiasm for sharing knowledge with other students. She noted that while many associate Koronivia with agriculture, it also offers programs in fisheries and forestry.

Batiweti encouraged attendees to ask the right questions about potential career paths related to their studies, highlighting the numerous job opportunities available in fisheries. She urged students to broaden their perspectives beyond traditional white-collar job pursuits to explore diverse fields.

Epeli Cagialau, a Year 13 student from the Latter-Day Saints Church College, was also thrilled to be at the open day. A TVET student studying carpentry and automotive engineering, he took an interest in the various engine types on display and engaged with university students who were currently apprentices in the automotive industry.

Thousands attended the two-day open day event in Nasinu, which was part of a series of similar events held at the university’s Naduna, Namaka, and Natabua campuses last week.
