Fiji University Games 2023: Unity and Sportsmanship on Display!

This year’s Fiji University Games in Suva has drawn over 1,000 participants from various universities throughout the country. The three-day event features a variety of sports, including athletics, rugby, rugby league, soccer, futsal, basketball, netball, and volleyball.

The opening ceremony took place yesterday, and included remarks from Jese Saukuru, the Minister of Youth and Sports. Saukuru expressed his delight in recognizing the 16th annual Fiji University Games and extended his best wishes to all participants in this year’s competition, which includes 19 different sports across men’s, women’s, and mixed categories.

“It is with great pleasure that I stand before you to acknowledge the 16th annual Fiji University Games,” Saukuru stated. He encouraged the athletes to give their best in this year’s competitions, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and camaraderie. He urged participants to approach the games with passion, determination, and respect for their opponents, and to value the friendships and experiences gained from competing in such events.

Saukuru concluded by wishing everyone success and praising the spirit of unity and sportsmanship that characterize the Fiji University Games. The games are set to conclude today.
