Fiji U20 Women’s Team Readies for World Cup Adventure!

The Digicel Fiji U20 women’s team is set to embark on an international tour that will take them through the United States and Costa Rica before arriving in Colombia for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Their journey begins in the United States, where they will spend 10 days in San Francisco and Sacramento for training and matches. After their tour in the U.S., the team will travel to Costa Rica for a week of international friendlies against opponents from Costa Rica and Morocco.

In a recent ceremony that celebrated both sports and culture, the team received their World Cup jerseys, which feature traditional Fijian designs. These jerseys represent not only the team’s identity but also their role as ambassadors of Fijian culture on the world stage.

Midfielder Adi Litia Bakaniceva has been appointed captain of the Young Kulas, with Angie Rekha taking on the vice-captain role.

The support from local businesses has been notable, with Sports World contributing Puma boots and runners for the team.

This journey is not solely focused on competition, but also emphasizes preparation and team bonding. Fiji faces a tough challenge in their group at the World Cup, competing against Brazil, Canada, and France. Their campaign will commence against Brazil on August 31 in Medellin, Colombia.
