Fiji U20 Women’s Team Gears Up for World Cup Adventure!

The Digicel Fiji U20 women’s team is set to embark on an international tour that will take them through the United States and Costa Rica before they participate in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

The team will first travel to the United States for a 10-day training and match tour, with scheduled stops in San Francisco and Sacramento. After their time in the U.S., they will proceed to Costa Rica for a week of international friendlies against teams from Costa Rica and Morocco.

Recently, the team received their World Cup jerseys during a ceremony that celebrated both sports and Fijian culture. The jerseys feature traditional Fijian designs, reflecting the nation’s heritage and the team’s role as cultural ambassadors on the worldwide stage.

Midfielder Adi Litia Bakaniceva has been appointed the captain of the Young Kulas, with Angie Rekha taking on the role of vice-captain. Local businesses have shown strong support, notably with Sports World providing Puma boots and runners for the team.

This journey is not solely focused on competition; it also emphasizes team bonding and preparation. Fiji faces a tough challenge in Group A of the World Cup, competing against Brazil, Canada, and France. The team’s campaign will begin on August 31 against Brazil in Medellin, Colombia.
