The Fiji Sports Council (FSC) Under-20 team is gearing up for an exciting tour to New Zealand next month, with a firm intention to succeed. Head coach Sireli Bobo announced that the team’s preparations will kick off on January 3, ahead of their departure on January 29.
Bobo expressed his gratitude to the FSC for successfully organizing the Under-20 sevens series, which featured five legs across various locations, concluding at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium on November 30. He noted that the competition showcased numerous raw talents, with teams such as Village Boys, QVSOBs, Ca’au, and Dominion Brothers participating and performing admirably, even challenging well-known clubs.
The primary objective of this tour is not only to aim for victory but also to expose young players to competitive international play, contributing to their development from grassroots levels as they seek opportunities to represent Fiji on a larger stage. Some players will also have the unique experience of flying on an airplane for the first time, making this trip particularly special.
Bobo emphasized the importance of cultivating a strong foundation for developing youth talent and is hopeful that this tour will provide valuable exposure and growth for the players involved.
Summary: The FSC Under-20 team is excited to tour New Zealand, focusing on preparation and player development. The coach highlights the success of the recent sevens series, the potential for young talents, and the broader goal of competing for opportunities to represent the nation.
The upcoming tour presents a wonderful opportunity for these young athletes to grow personally and professionally, fostering not only their skills on the field but also their confidence and potential as future leaders in sports.
