Fiji U16 Women’s Team Aims for Redemption Against Cook Islands

The Fiji U16 women’s football team is aiming to recover in their next OFC U-16 Women’s Championship match against the Cook Islands, following a tough draw with Tonga. Team captain Annie May stressed the importance of enhancing focus and composure ahead of the game.

“Some of us were feeling nervous, so we’ll concentrate on ball control, improving our passes, and particularly bolstering our defense,” May said. Despite the emotional toll of their last match, she remains optimistic.

“I told the girls it’s not the end of the world. We have two matches ahead of us, so we must look forward and focus on that,” she added.

National Coach Marika Rodu echoed these thoughts and highlighted areas that need improvement after the team netted three goals against Tonga. “It wasn’t the result we wanted, and we’ll work on tightening our defense and controlling possession better,” Rodu remarked.

Fiji’s match against the Cook Islands is scheduled for tomorrow at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva at 3 PM.
