Fiji U16 Women Set to Rally in OFC Championship Showdown!

The Fiji U16 women’s football team is looking to recover in their upcoming match against the Cook Islands in the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, following a challenging draw against Tonga. Team captain Annie May stressed the importance of improved focus and composure for the squad.

“Some of us were a bit nervous, so we will concentrate on ball control, enhance our passing, and particularly strengthen our defense,” May said. Despite the emotional aftermath of their last match, she remains optimistic.

“I told the girls it’s not the end of the world. We have two matches ahead, so we must move forward and focus on that,” she encouraged. National Coach Marika Rodu also highlighted areas for enhancement, noting that while the team did score three goals against Tonga, the result was not what they desired.

“It wasn’t the result we wanted, and we’ll work on improving our defense and better maintaining possession of the ball,” Rodu remarked. Fiji will face the Cook Islands tomorrow at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva at 3pm.
