The Digicel Fiji U16 team is set to return from Tahiti tomorrow after successfully earning a place in the FIFA U17 World Cup during the OFC U16 Championship. Coach Sunil Kumar has announced that plans are in motion to arrange friendly matches as part of the team’s preparation for the World Cup.
Kumar mentioned that discussions have commenced with coaches from New Zealand and New Caledonia to organize a tri-nation series aimed at enhancing the performance of all three teams ahead of the global tournament.
“Arranging test matches is our top priority right now. Right after the final, we talked about the possibility of friendlies or a tri-nation series to help each other develop and improve,” Kumar stated. He emphasized that this initiative would require the relevant football boards to evaluate and make the necessary decisions.
