Fiji U16 Shock the World: A Journey to the FIFA U17 World Cup!

Fiji U16 Head Coach Sunil Kumar and his team experienced a significant emotional moment as they achieved qualification for the FIFA U17 World Cup in Tahiti, exceeding expectations. The Fijian team triumphed over Tahiti on their home turf, with Veleni Rasorewa shining as the match’s standout player, scoring both goals for a 2-1 victory.

Kumar commended the collective effort of the team, even as Rasorewa received the man of the match accolade. “Everyone played their roles, from the goalkeeper to the strikers. Veleni Rasorewa may have been named man of the match, but it was a team effort that led to our two goals,” he remarked.

Looking back on an earlier defeat to New Zealand during the pool stages, Kumar noted how he motivated his players to confront their rivals with renewed determination. “Following our loss to New Zealand, I challenged the boys to face them again in a head-to-head matchup, and now in the final, we aim to refocus and counter New Zealand,” he stated.

As the team gears up for the final, they remain dedicated to sustaining their momentum and taking on New Zealand once more.
