The Digicel Fiji U16 team is set to return from Tahiti tomorrow after successfully qualifying for the FIFA U17 World Cup during the OFC U16 Championship.
Coach Sunil Kumar announced that plans are in motion to organize friendly matches to prepare the team for the World Cup. He indicated that discussions have started with coaches from New Zealand and New Caledonia regarding the establishment of a tri-nation series aimed at enhancing the performance of all three teams before the global tournament.
“Arranging test matches is our number one priority right now. Right after the final, we discussed the possibility of friendlies or a tri-nation series where we can help each other grow and get better,” Kumar stated. He also mentioned that implementing this plan would necessitate the respective football boards to review and make the appropriate decisions.
