Fiji’s Men’s Under-19 head coach Dhirend Chand has announced a 20-member squad ahead of friendly matches against a visiting Australian team scheduled for next month. The squad selection followed a rigorous six-day trial at the Fiji Football Academy in Suva, where players demonstrated their skills despite challenging weather conditions.

Chand emphasized that this squad is not final for the upcoming OFC qualifiers, as several players are currently training with Bula FC. Additionally, further trials are planned across various divisions to continue assessing talent.

“The trials were conducted successfully, and every player had the chance to showcase their abilities and prove their readiness to represent Fiji,” Chand stated. The selected players include some who have previously impressed while representing Fiji earlier in the year.

The upcoming friendly matches are crucial for the team’s preparation, offering players the opportunity to gain valuable experience on the field as the coaching staff evaluates a broader pool of potential candidates for future competitions. This commitment to developing young talent reinforces Fiji’s dedication to fostering future stars in football, instilling hope for a bright sporting future in the nation.
