Fiji’s U-16 women’s soccer team, coached by Marika Rodu, concluded their journey at the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship by securing fifth place. Although they did not progress to the semi-finals, Rodu praised the team’s determination and positive spirit.
“We may have been out of the competition, but that didn’t affect our morale. We learned from our three pool matches, and the game against the Solomon Islands could have gone either way. The girls were eager to finish strong, and I appreciate their effort,” said Rodu.
He highlighted the valuable learning experiences the tournament offered, noting that Samoa set a high standard with their impressive ball movement and defensive strategies.
Rodu also expressed gratitude towards the fans who supported the team. “I thank the fans for their dedication, especially those who traveled from afar. The girls truly valued their presence,” he added.
