Fiji’s U-16 head coach, Marika Rodu, reflected on his team’s journey at the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, where they ended up in fifth place. Although they did not reach the semi-finals, Rodu praised his team’s resilience.
“I know we were out of the competition already, but that did not dampen our spirits. I think we learned from the mistakes in our three pool games. The match against the Solomon Islands could have gone either way, but the girls were determined to finish on a high note, and I want to thank them for their effort,” Rodu stated.
He highlighted the valuable lessons the tournament offered, mentioning that Samoa has set a benchmark in the competition with their impressive ball movement and defensive strategies.
Rodu also expressed gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support, noting, “I thank the fans for all their efforts; I know they have traveled from afar from the west, and I believe the girls really enjoyed their presence.”
