Fiji’s U-16 head coach Marika Rodu provided insights into his team’s performance at the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, where they secured fifth place. Although they did not make it to the semi-finals, Rodu praised his players’ dedication and resilience.
“I understand we were already out of the competition, but that didn’t affect our spirits. We learned from the mistakes we made in the three pool matches. The game against the Solomon Islands could have gone either way, but the girls were determined to finish on a positive note, and I appreciate their efforts,” said Rodu.
He also emphasized the valuable learning experiences the tournament offered. “There was a lot for the girls to learn from this competition. Samoa set a high standard, with impressive ball movement and strong defensive play,” he noted.
Rodu expressed gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support. “I want to thank the supporters who traveled from the west; I know the girls truly enjoyed their presence,” he added.
