Fiji’s U-16 head coach Marika Rodu discussed the team’s performance at the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, where they secured fifth place. Although they did not make it to the semi-finals, Rodu praised the team’s resilience.

“Even though we were out of contention, our spirits remained high. We learned from our mistakes in the three pool games. The match against the Solomon Islands could have gone either way, but the girls were determined to finish the tournament on a positive note. I appreciate their effort,” the coach expressed.

Rodu also highlighted the valuable learning experiences gained from the tournament. “The girls learned a lot from this competition. Samoa has set a benchmark, and their ability to move the ball and their defensive skills have been impressive,” he noted.

He expressed gratitude to the fans for their support. “I want to thank the fans for their dedication, especially those who traveled a long distance from the west. The girls truly enjoyed having them there,” he added.
