Fiji U-16 Coach Hails Team’s Spirit at OFC Championship

Fiji’s U-16 head coach Marika Rodu provided an overview of his team’s journey at the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, where they concluded the tournament in fifth place. Although the team did not make it to the semi-finals, Rodu praised the players’ determination.

He acknowledged that despite being eliminated from contention, the team’s enthusiasm remained intact. “Even though we were out of the competition, it did not affect our spirits. We learned from our three pool games. The match against the Solomons was very competitive, but the girls were eager to finish strong, and I appreciate their effort,” the coach stated.

Rodu also recognized the valuable experience the tournament offered, particularly highlighting Samoa’s impressive performance as a model for his team. “There was a lot for the girls to learn in this competition. Samoa has set a benchmark with their remarkable ball movement and defensive strategies,” he noted.

Finally, Rodu expressed gratitude to the supporters who attended the matches. “I truly appreciate the fans for their support, especially those who traveled from the west. I know the players enjoyed having them there,” he said.
