Fiji U-16 Coach Celebrates Team Spirit Despite Championship Challenges

Fiji’s U-16 head coach Marika Rodu provided an overview of his team’s performance at the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, where they secured a fifth-place finish. Although they did not make it to the semi-finals, Rodu praised the team’s resilience.

“I know we were out of the competition already, but that did not dampen our spirits. We learned from the mistakes made in the three pool games; the match against the Solomon Islands could have gone either way, but the girls were determined to finish strong. I want to thank them for their effort,” he stated.

Rodu emphasized the valuable lessons that the tournament offered. “There was a lot of learning for the girls. Samoa has set a benchmark with their impressive ball movement and solid defensive work,” he noted.

He also expressed gratitude to the fans for their support. “I appreciate the fans for their efforts; I know many traveled from far away in the west. The girls truly enjoyed having them there,” Rodu added.
