Fiji TV Embraces Innovation with New Mobile Journalism Training

Dave McMeekin and Julie Hornsey from the Pacific Media Assistance Scheme held a two-day training session on Mobile Journalism for the Fiji Television Limited Operations and News, Current Affairs, and Sports Team on July 15 and 16.

During the training, PACMAS provided two Mobile Journalism (MOJO) kits, each valued at AUD $5,500, which included an iPhone 15 Pro Max, microphones, and other essential equipment.

The training focused on the fundamentals of operating and maintaining the MOJO devices, capturing high-quality audio and video, employing creative camera angles, and enhancing visual storytelling with background lines and images.

Following the session, the Fiji TV News team quickly began utilizing the MOJO kits.

The implementation of these kits has significantly benefitted Fiji TV’s newsroom by minimizing reliance on cumbersome equipment and fostering increased creativity in event coverage.
