Twenty new officers joining the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways recently underwent an induction training program in Suva, underscoring their commitment to serving with integrity, professionalism, and empathy. Led by Permanent Secretary Dr. Andrew Tukana, the two-day workshop at the Fiji Learning Institute for Public Service emphasized the importance of understanding their roles, efficient service delivery, and support for colleagues across the Ministry’s nine divisions.
Dr. Tukana urged these officers to be considerate of the challenges faced by those in rural and remote areas, stressing the need for strong communication and excellent customer service. The training was focused on instilling public service values and ensuring familiarity with the Ministry’s operational framework.
This program aligns with ongoing initiatives, as evidenced by a similar training conducted for 41 officers in Labasa aimed at enhancing agricultural services and supporting local farmers.
