In a demonstration of unity, workers from the Lautoka City Council (LCC) collaborated with the Ba Town Council on a clean-up initiative at Yalalevu ward yesterday. This event underscored the vital role of collective action in ensuring clean and resilient communities.

Shalend Singh, head of services for LCC, noted that the initiative aimed to restore cleanliness, enhance public health, and bolster inter-municipal cooperation. “Responding to a request for assistance, the Lautoka City Council mobilised personnel to collaborate with Ba Town officials, volunteers, and community members in clearing waste from public areas,” Singh stated. This initiative embodies LCC’s commitment to solidarity and shared responsibility between municipalities.

Singh emphasized that environmental challenges extend beyond municipal borders, stressing the importance of supporting neighboring communities. “When one community needs support, we step forward—because clean, healthy towns benefit everyone,” he remarked.

He also expressed appreciation for the leadership of the Ba Town Council and extended gratitude to the National Fire Authority, market vendors, volunteers, and local community members for their contributions to the clean-up efforts.

Additionally, the Nasinu Town Council has joined the cause, deploying a team to assist in the recovery efforts in Ba, further showcasing the spirit of cooperation among towns. This combined effort not only addresses immediate environmental concerns but also fosters a sense of community resilience and cooperation.
