Tourism’s revival was celebrated as industry leaders convened for the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards 2025 held last night in Nadi. The prestigious ceremony, hosted at the Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa, underscored the sector’s remarkable recovery and its increasing significance to the national economy.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, the chief guest at the event, reaffirmed tourism’s vital role in the country’s growth trajectory, emphasizing its resilience amid global challenges. He referenced the Fiji Bureau of Statistics’ report for September 2025, which noted that holiday arrivals had surged to generate $918.4 million—a significant 23.4 percent increase compared to June.

“Tourism remains a cornerstone of our economic architecture. Despite global uncertainty and evolving travel patterns, our industry has demonstrated remarkable adaptability and resilience,” Rabuka stated, highlighting the sector’s ability to bounce back.

The Prime Minister also noted the rising room occupancy rates, which have reached 62.5 percent, while average daily room rates are experiencing record highs, signaling renewed confidence among international travelers. He acknowledged the collaborative effort required for the industry’s success, stating, “This success is collective. From airport personnel and tour operators to hotel managers, transport providers, restaurant owners, marketers, policymakers, and strategic partners, everyone plays an indispensable role in delivering seamless and memorable experiences for our visitors.”

This year, the awards received 249 registrations, culminating in 65 finalists across various individual and business categories. The Rosie Travel Group and IHG Hotels & Resorts stood out as prominent winners, each securing three awards.

Rosie Travel Group received accolades, including the 2025 Inbound and Transport Operators award, while its Malolo Island Resort garnered the 2025 Accommodation Deluxe award for properties with fewer than 50 rooms. Eroni Bole from Rosie Holidays was recognized as the Cultural Tourism Champion.

IHG Hotels and Resorts achieved recognition as the C&I Operator of the Year for the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, in addition to winning the Training and Development award. Akshay Chand was honored with the Rising Star award.

This vibrant event not only celebrated individual success but also highlighted the collective strength of Fiji’s tourism sector, signaling a hopeful outlook as it continues to recover and thrive in a changing global landscape.
