Fiji’s tourism sector is keeping up its strong post-pandemic rebound, with the year-to-date January–July 2025 tally reaching 543,073 visitor arrivals and a July 2025 that set a new monthly record. Official statistics show 99,311 visitors in July, a 1% rise over July 2024 and 6.2% higher than July 2023, underscoring a milestone month as Tourism Fiji sees the year on track for one of its strongest years on record.

In July, Australia remained Fiji’s lead market, contributing 44,972 visitors or 45% of the month’s total arrivals. New Zealand followed with 25,311 visitors, while the United States ranked third with 12,226 arrivals. The July surge aligns with the broader momentum seen earlier in 2025, as the industry accelerates its recovery from the pandemic and wells its appeal as a premier holiday destination.

The ongoing recovery is part of a multi-month trend. January 2025 data showed a solid start, with 70,794 visitors, led by Australia, which accounted for about half of the total. May 2025 continued the upswing with 86,587 visitors, and April 2025 posted 80,363 arrivals, signaling a steady rebound in travel demand. June 2025 figures pointed to continued strength, with arrivals around 92,693. Across these months, the vast majority of visitors have come for leisure, supported by a strong air-by-air travel pattern that has become a hallmark of Fiji’s tourism recovery.

Tourism Fiji described July as a milestone month, highlighting that the record for July adds to the broader confidence that the sector can sustain its momentum through the rest of the year. The industry’s resurgence is part of a broader economic narrative, with government officials pointing to tourism as a key driver of growth and job creation, helped by improved connectivity and ongoing promotional efforts.

Looking ahead, industry leaders echo a positive outlook for 2025. Officials and policymakers have emphasized continued momentum in tourism as a cornerstone of Fiji’s economic revival, with targets discussed in public briefings that include expanding the sector’s contribution to the economy, boosting earnings, and increasing hotel occupancy. The goal of growing tourism to a multi-billion-dollar sector and welcoming more visitors remains a priority as Fiji aims to reach higher milestones in the coming years.

In brief, July 2025’s record-breaking arrivals, coupled with strong year-to-date figures, reinforce Fiji’s status as a sought-after destination and highlight the resilience of its tourism sector. With steady demand from Australia, New Zealand, and the United States, and ongoing promotions to attract leisure travelers, the outlook remains promising for continued growth and positive spillovers to local communities and the wider economy.
