The tourism and aviation industries are experiencing positive growth this year, marked by an increase in visitor arrivals and a resurgence of international trust in travel to Fiji. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka highlighted that significant hotel and resort developments are currently underway across the nation. These investments are expected to generate jobs and enhance Fiji’s tourism appeal in the coming years.

In light of various global uncertainties, Gavoka assured potential travelers that Fiji remains a secure and welcoming destination. He expressed optimism regarding the strengthened air travel sector, noting that the country has been able to attract more visitors, reaffirming its reputation for warmth, friendliness, and exceptional hospitality.

In addition to these developments, Gavoka mentioned that the Commercial Use of Marine Areas Bill has been presented in Parliament and is currently under public consultation. This legislation, alongside discussions on a harmonized Civil Aviation Bill and Fiji’s first comprehensive Tourism Bill, aims to ensure the future stability and success of the sector.

In his New Year message, Gavoka urged Fijians to embrace gratitude for the past and to look forward with determination and hope. These initiatives signal a commitment to enhancing Fiji’s position as a leading tourist destination, promising a bright outlook for both the local economy and the tourism experience.
