Fiji’s tourism industry has showcased remarkable performance, with the latest data from the Fiji Bureau of Statistics revealing that earnings from tourism reached an impressive $918.4 million in the September quarter of 2025. This figure underscores the significant financial impact of international visitors, reflecting their total spending, which is calculated based on average daily expenditures and the total number of visitor days.
Australia continues to be the largest contributor to Fiji’s tourism market, accounting for $246.2 million, or 47 percent of total earnings. New Zealand follows closely, contributing $98 million, which represents 26.8 percent of the total, while visitors from the United States spent $33.5 million, reflecting 10.7 percent of overall earnings. Additionally, earnings from visitors from the Pacific Islands amounted to $4.1 million, or 3.6 percent.
The September 2025 quarter also saw a robust quarter-to-quarter growth of 23.4 percent, translating to an increase of $174.2 million compared to the June quarter of the same year. This growth reinforces the idea that tourism is a cornerstone of Fiji’s economy, and the strong figures leading into the final quarter of the year signal a promising outlook, as this period is traditionally one of the busiest for the sector.
This positive trend in the tourism sector demonstrates its resilience and vital role in supporting Fiji’s economy, providing hope for continued growth and prosperity in the coming months.
